About Me

I am a guide who can help you on life’s journey, having explored the far reaches of the human psyche in over thirty years of clinical practice. I began my career in New York City, where I worked in a range of settings with people from diverse backgrounds who had a broad range of life experiences.

I graduated from Lawrence University in 1981 with a B.A. in Theater; this has set the stage for creative work throughout my career, as well as working with many people in creative fields. A fascination with psychology lead me to the NYU School of Social Work, from which I graduated in 1987 with a Master’s Degree; I continued to pursue this passion at the New York Center for Psychoanalytic Training where I completed my Certificate in Psychoanalysis in 1993.

I have been active in my profession and been engaged in teaching, training and developing programs in a variety of ways throughout my career. When I was in New York I taught in the Hunter School of Social Work’s Post-Master’s Program, and designed and implemented training for staff and Master’s level social work students at Grosvenor Neighborhood House and Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center. As President and President-Elect for the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society I provided leadership on fiscal issues, long-term planning, and organized conferences, programs, and study groups. As Chairperson of the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society Program Committee I was involved in bringing psychoanalytic thought leaders to Minnesota for conferences. I was also a member of the Steering Committee of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work, which is an educationally focused organization, and had the opportunity to work on projects from small programs to large conferences. Currently I am on the faculty of the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Institute.

Over the course of my career I have been drawn to many paths that seem to run parallel or merge with psychoanalysis, but all offer healing, transformation and growth of the inner universe. This has lead me to study and practice Buddhism, both Zen and Tibetan, explore the chakra system and yoga, immerse myself in the esoteric worlds of Tarot and Kabbalah, and step into mystical Christianity. I continue to be open to the many forms that spirit may take throughout our lives.
